What is your favorite kind of plants?
For in my home definitely tropical! I love the lush green colors and huge leaves. I love cacti in their natural habitat when I'm on vacation but I find it hard to keep them happy in dutch winters.

Tell us about when you first fell in love with plants?
I grew up with a dad that always said "Plants are the things that make your house a home. It's the best kind of decoration you can have!"

So we had a lot of plants in the house, he loved the big ones so we mostly had huge Alocasia's, spider plants and Yuccas.
So I think my love for plants was something my dad taught me, it was always there.

When Olivier and I bought our first house together a couple of years ago I started a collection of my own and loved what it did with the house.

Tell us about your favorite ways to decorate with plants?

Well, I love my plant ladder with all different kinds of plants. I also make my own macrame plant hangers. I like what they do with the space.

Why do you feel houseplants are necessary for your home?
Because they make me happy. I love taking care of them, how they make me feel and that the give me the feeling to be in touch with nature.

What are your must-have accessories for the perfect plant corner

My ideal plant corner must have plenty of green, leafy “friends” of course! Next, it must have a comfy place to sit, windows framing the view outside, somewhere to set down a cup of tea and great lighting to read a book.

The thing I love about plants is that they are never and therefore they are always perfect. A perfect plant corner for me is a corner with the right plants and for me, that means healthy plants.

Plants are very hip nowadays. "How to create your own urban jungle" I see that sentence more than once a day. A lot of people People buy plants because they have an empty corner in there home but don't take into account that not all plants are the same. You need to care for them and they don't always do well in that corner that needed decoration.
The other day I was in a cafe and in the bathroom without any windows was a beautiful cactus. When I see that I get kinda sad because that cactus will die in a couple of weeks due to lack of light..

Have you noticed any trends in houseplants?
Haha! Yeah. "as many as you can possibly fit in your house" seems to be the trend. When we talk about specific plants I think that most people from Europe have a pilea or a monstera in their home.

What's the next plant you want to get?
Still trying to have a real Monstera Deliciosa Variegata! I have a tiny root growing from a stem cutting. But it's winter so let's see how that works out.

Do you have any tips for aspiring plant lady?
Don't buy too many plants to fill that empty corner. Try to take care of a couple of plants first. Dying plants are no fun at all.
